"Girl With Compact" Oil on Canvas Circa 1940

$4,250.00

The painting depicts a stylish seated 1940's woman holding a compact and powder puff, the refection of her eye visible in the mirror. The pose reveals her stockings and a lot of leg.
One assumes from the information written on the back of the frame that the painting was the property of Ethel Dupont (divorced wife of FDR Jr) and her second husband Benjamin Warren and acquired from their home in Grosse Pointe . While the painting is unsigned, the quality of the execution and its provenance attest to the work of an accomplished artist. The painting is also handsomely framed.
